Since its debut in 2001, the Ars Trio di Roma has stood out as one of the most interesting young trios of the Italian scene. Specializing under the guidance of the Trio di Trieste at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena (with Diploma with honors at the end of the course), the same year the Ars Trio di Roma won the First Prize in the International Competition “Città di Pinerolo” and the First Prize in the prestigious International Competition “Premio Trio di Trieste” in Trieste.
Since then, the Ars Trio has been hosted at important Italian concert associations, among which: Amici della Musica of Florence, Amici della Musica of Vicenza, Amici della Musica of Padua, Amici della Musica of Verona, Amici della Musica of Palermo, Asolo Musica-Veneto Musica of Asolo, the Teatro Nuovo “Giovanni da Udine”, the Philharmonic Academy of Rovereto, the Concert Society of Parma, the Società Aquilana dei Concerti “B.Barattelli”, the Laudamo Philharmonic of Messina, the Festival delle Nazioni of Città di Castello, the Società del Quartetto of Bergamo, the Gog of Genova, the Bologna Festival, the IUC – Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti, Roma, the Philharmonic Society of Trento, the Ass. Chamber Music of Trieste. They’ve also performed for Radio3 Rai in the review “I Concerti del Quirinale”, with a national and European live broadcast.
Their concert activity abroad is regular: the year after their debut, in 2002, the Trio has been invited by Cidim on a long tour in South America (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil), performing in large theatres (Teatro Coliseo of Buenos Aires, Teatro El Circulo of Rosario, Teatro Argentino of La Plata, Teatro Oriente of Santiago in Chile, Sala Balzo of Montevideo, Canal da Musica of Curitiba) with a national radio live broadcast of the Montevideo performance and a TV broadcast for the Brazilian Radio-Televisione Tv Globo of Rio de Janeiro. In the following years, the Trio has been invited to perform at the Martinu Hall-Lichtenstejn Palace of Prague (Czech Republic), the Hall of Columns of the Kiev Philharmonic (Ukraine), the Stephaniensalle of Graz (Austria), and has participated in important festivals in Germany, like the Scharwenka Festival in Lubeck and the Bachfest in Leipzig.
On the strength of a complete repertoire, ranging from classical to modern choice (Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Schumann, Dvorak, Ravel, Shostakovic) the Trio has always paid extreme attention to contemporary music as well, performing regularly on programs of authors like Copland, Shchedrin, Kagel and Henze; in 2005 the Trio has executed for the first time the Triplo Concerto for violin, cello, piano and orchestra by Michele Dall’Ongaro, a composition which was expressly dedicated to the Ars Trio di Roma. In 2007 the Trio has performed for the first time in Italy the Segundo Trio by Luis De Pablo.
In 2006, the cover page of the magazine Amadeus was dedicated to the Ars Trio di Roma, who have recorded the integral trios of Shostakovic, published by the magazine.
Since 2005, the Ars Trio di Roma has actively taken part in the musical promotion and distribution in the artistic direction of the festival “Musica in Ateneo – dal Barocco a oggi”, expressly dedicated to the young, in the intent of creating free, high-quality classical and contemporary music festival at the University. After two seasons at the University of Molise, in 2007 the festival was moved to the Aula Magna of the University Roma Tre.
